I had the blessed opportunity of meeting and having lunch with Maloase Mogodi – the President of the South African Chamber of Commerce in the United States of America (Georgia Chapter). I was first introduced to Ms Mogodi by one of my role models – Dr Felicia Mabuza-Suttle. I had the blessed honour of meeting Dr Mabuza-Suttle at Cape Town Fashion Week earlier this year (see my post on my meeting Dr Mabuza-Suttle on my blog HERE ). Ms Mogodi is so inspirational. She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of the North (now known as the University of Limpopo), a Masters Diploma in Human Resources Management from Rand Afrikaans University (now known as the University of Johannesburg), and an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management in the USA. Ms Mogodi has also worked for major companies both in South Africa and the USA, and she also owns her own business.
I enjoyed my lunch with her. She is intelligent, knowledgeable, wise, successful and truly an inspiration. She treated me to lunch at Paschal’s Restaurant – Atlanta’s soul food restaurant famously known for being the unofficial headquarters for the Civil Rights Movement during the 1960s. Dr Martin Luther King Jr and other civil rights leaders frequently convened at Paschal’s for strategy sessions, planning their protest marches, sit-ins, and voter registration drives. It was an honour to have had lunch where the Dr Martin Luther King Jr used to frequent.
